MySQL Connection Limits

GigaLayer allows a maximum of 20 simultaneous MySQL connections per cPanel on shared servers. Although, this limit can be raised for VPS and dedicated servers. The 20 simultaneous database connections should be sufficient. This limits the number of simultaneous connections that can be made by any given account, but places no limits on what a client can do once connected. Most database connections open and close within a fraction of a second. A forum with 500 active members will rarely hit this 20 simultaneous connections.

Once you are hitting the limit, it means your site has too much traffic for the shared server. It is crucial you upgrade to a VPS or Dedicated server. You may take a look at our VPS Hosting plans http://gigalayer.com/vps
